Hermit Crab Care

I've had my hermit crab for 2 years. He has always been a red/brown color - even after his molt last year. Just recently, he molted for the 2nd time since I've had him, and his color has changed to a very deep purple. Is this color change normal? He seems fine otherwise. I am offering plenty of calcium. Anything else I should do?
