Hermit Crab Care

My hermies have been out of my care for several weeks (long story). Now I had to clean the mold that was in the food dish and the sand is damp to wet and two of my hermies are pink in color and they are sluggish. Question, how can I dry the sand or should I go to the beach and pick up fresh? What else can I do for the two who are pink? Thanks for your advice!
