Hermit Crab Care

Elevation/Hermie Survey - Ashleigh Smith - 7/3/2004
I live in Gautier, Mississippi. (I am about 1/2 mile as the crow flies from the beach.) Elevation is 16 feet above sea level (but I think my home is 13 feet above sea level. 16 feet is average for the whole city.) I have 7 hermies in a 10 gallon tank and have not noticed any aggression, streaking, or cannibalism. My hermies are small to medium-sized. Humidity in the tank stays between 75-85. Tank temp ranges from 75-83 (no heater on now - with my house at 72-75 degrees, I have trouble keeping things cool enough in there - not in sun or anything though). I'm not sure if this has any bearing, but I do check a crab's personality before buying it. Since I have a 3 year old daughter, I look for crabs that are friendly but not aggressive when i buy them. I do not buy a crab that is too shy to come out of its shell or one that seems eager to pinch. E-mail me if you need any more info.
